Curriculum - Cracking the Code

Cracking the Code is a program which has been designed to systematically and intensively target the early developing phonological awareness skills and alphabet knowledge of students. It uses explicit and developmentally appropriate teaching practices. Cracking the Code uses ability grouping, which allows placement of students in the program at a developmentally appropriate point based on their initial assessment results.

Students will receive intervention which:

• Provides EXPLICIT TEACHING, and follows the vital model – I DO, WE DO, YOU DO

• Allows them to listen carefully, respond often and be rewarded for participation

• Is repetitive, and aims to consolidate strong skills in each of the targeted goals – PRACTISE MAKES PERFECT
